Page 1 of 2 With the reminder that the UK Representative for Dandie Dinmont Terriers on the Kennel Club Breed Liaison Committee is Keith Derry , we publish in full the latest initiative from the Kennel Club in the UK. It should also be noted that Breed Representatives are not able to attend the Kennel Club Breed Liaison Committee Meetings unless they are successful in a ballot. Keith Derry, on behalf of Dandie Dinmont Terriers, has so far been unsuccessful in this ballot so has been unable to go to the meetings. Liaison is the Key The Kennel Club aims to communicate with everyone interested in the world of dogs but it would seem that a number of people are unaware of the various channels of communication open to them. The Kennel Club reaches a variety of audiences as part of its ongoing commitment to encourage dialogue between the organisation and the dog activities and enthusiasts that it represents. This may be face to face via its Regional Question Time meetings or through the show stand - which attends various canine events throughout the country, allowing the staff to speak directly to visitors regarding canine issues. Equally well the KC is keen to hear more from canine enthusiasts and remind them that they can communicate their ideas to the KC and input into the decision making process via the various Kennel Club Liaison Councils. Dog folk can even become representatives - nominations for election to the Shows, Obedience, Agility, Breeds, Field and Working Trials Councils are requested every year by the KC and are submitted to the Shows, Trials & Awards Department (Council Elections). For further guidance regarding this please contact the STA Department on 020 7518 1065. Dog breeders, owners and competitors can raise issues of concern by contacting their representatives who are listed in the KC Year Book or attend the regional meetings held - dates and locations of which are communicated by the representatives via the regional clubs. The representatives attend Liaison Council meetings at the Kennel Club to consider matters raised and make recommendations to the relevant KC Committees.
Individuals may also now write directly to the Kennel Club with their views and these are passed from the office to the Council Chairperson for a decision as to whether they will be placed on the agenda for the Council to consider. |
