Best of Breed and Terrier Group 2 Jamieson & Buist's Ch Inzievar Silver Gilt

Back to Bingley Hall near Stafford again for the Dandie Dinmont 2007 Championship Show cavalcade. George Johnston found his Best of Breed in The late Mrs Jamieson and Mr Buist's Ch Inzievar Silver Gilt and the Bitch

CC went to Brian Kerrush' Inzievar Gold Ring - a mustard bitch who, subject to KC approval, is now a Champion.

Beverley Deacon's Cassencarrie C'est la Vie was awarded the Reserve Dog CC and the Jarvis' Mosterlada Silver Lining the Reserve Bitch CC.

Best Puppy was Mrs Morris' Needwood Fancy Man at Pennywave.

Silver Gilt looked lovely in the ring and we are delighted he achieved Group 2 in the Terrier Group, shown as usual by Frances Chapman-King who is also the breeder. On a personal note you might wonder and care about the ownership of Silver Gilt. Mrs Jamieson is Frances' mother who very sadly died at the beginning of the year. She was a great supporter and we last saw her at the Caledonian November 2006 show which she thoroughly enjoyed. Gordon Buist is well known to us around the ringside and we also remember his wife who tragically died after a long and brave illness which didn't stop her support of Dandies. Two people who were intrinsically involved with Dandie Dinmont Terriers, who were respected and are missed.

On a happier note it was a jolly good day! Lots of very friendly chat around the benches and, managing to get to a Show for the first time in ages, your Webmaster had a lovely day catching up with lots of people in person rather than on the internet. There were several keen prospective owners around the ringside too - often it is the best way to go to the shows to meet the breeders face to face.

'Wot? No photographs?' we hear you say! Patience... Paul Keevil was there and, after he has watched the Grand Prix <smile>, we will be able to process and post a gallery. Due to celebrations, as our new young Formula 1 driving star yet again was on the podium, we apologise that this took so long!

...around 13,000 dogs over four days

The first photograph is of Bingley Hall itself. To put this in perspective, this is a four day show. Dandie Dinmonts were on day 3 in the Terrier Group. Also on that day was the Hound Group. In the Bingley Hall you can see eight rings. There were five other places containing rings as well - Pavilion A, Annexe 1, Annexe 2, Prestwood and Argyle. So that begins to give you some idea of the scale of the show - 24 rings on each of the four days with sometimes four breeds following on from each other in the same ring. All this doesn't include the Best in Show ring, separate from the rest in its own rather smart marquee including a brick built flower bed and fountain with white picket fencing around the massive lawn which was the ring. All the stakes classes, Group Judging and Best in Show Judging took place there. The total number of dogs judged over the four days of the show would have been about 13,000. This is a typical General Championship Show in the UK. This time 48 Dandies had entered and there were 8 absentees. Our entries seem to be building up again!

You can also see the benching that the shows provide for most breeds. Dogs are supposed to remain on their benches during the show and only be removed for grooming and exercising (15 minutes).
