Most of you will already know that the origins of the Dandie Dinmont Terrier are shrouded amongst tales of gipsies, tinkers and Scottish Lairds which conjure up magical times of campfires and living off the land. However it was an extremely hard life not only for the humans but for the Dandies too and often the Dandie Dinmont, cold, tired and exhausted, would have to forage for it's own supper from the wild.

Glasgow University helping to protect wild food for Dandie Dinmont Terriers

Therefore it is of great interest that the University of Glasgow Veterinary School [Institute of Comparative Medicine] is making considerable efforts to protect the natural source of wild food for the Dandie Dinmont and we thank Vets A M King, L Cromerty, C Paterson and J S Boyd for their special article published in the Veterinary Record (2007) 160, 94-96.
