Dandie Dinmont Pedigrees - Badger

A dog from Piershill Barracks... and an important descendent Dandie Dinmont

There's something very special about old things. Like walking through the old streets of Cambridge or Edinburgh, UK, touching the ancient walls and getting that feeling, slightly spooky and tingly perhaps, of the history and the people that have been there before. Old hand written Dandie Dinmont Pedigrees can have a similar effect with evocative names that those of us who study the history will recognise.

So may we introduce Badger? Born on April 25th 1875 and bred by Mrs W E Turner in the UK and given the early registration number at the UK Kennel Club of 6636. We have been lucky to be sent an original handwritten pedigree, by Phyllis Salisbury, of this Badger and those of you who collect these gems might like to add it to your collection.

Betty Olsen from Canada has provided a text pedigree of this Badger (remember that it was a common name!) which completes the pedigree and which will help you decipher the writing. If you would like a high resolution print copy, please contact the webmaster through our contact form.

Wait... there's more! Another exciting development for the Dandie Dinmont Web database. As of yesterday we now have around 20,000 dogs in our offline databases and we are working hard to integrate these databases so that they can be put online. That is a big leap from 8,000 to 20,000!
