Crufts 2007 has begun!

Dandie Dinmonts at Crufts on Saturday

Crufts begins today! Well it does for the Exhibitors of Gundogs. Dandie Dinmonts have to wait until Saturday and even then they have to wait until the Norfolk and the Norwich Terriers are judged before them in the ring. Judge Wendy Weatherstone will have her work cut out to get through the Dandie judging so that the Best of Breed is awarded in time for the Terrier Group Judging. A fairly knowledgeable 'guestimate' would be that the Dandie judging won't begin before 2pm but don't rely on this!

So while you are waiting for the judging hopefully there will be time to check out the stands - not forgetting our own Paul Keevil of Canine Art Connections [who looks like a Dandie], Hall 2 Stand 54, who is giving away the third free Dandie Dinmont Collector's postcard. If you see a group of people round the Dandie benches having sticky buns and fun, do say hello because they are probably members of the Dandie Dinmont Google Group having their annual Crufts party.

Dandies at Discover Dogs every day

Lynda Bromley and her team will be at Crufts every day promoting Dandies in Discover Dogs so drop by if you can. If you haven't met a Dandie, that is a good place to start for information and advice and you even get to cuddle one as well!

We only find out on Saturday which Dandie Dinmonts have been entered for the Show. Will Ch Cloverwood Black Pepper be there with Glen Tinsley - the Best of Breed at the World Show? Will Ch Vistca van der Valk be there with Keith Derry? Ch Swanwillow Aurora, Ch Inzievar Silver Gilt, Cassencarrie c'est la Vie to name only a few. ...and will there be dogs from 'abroad'? Will Ch Hobergays Fineus Fogg come over from his recent Terrier Group Win at the Westminster Dog Show New York to check out the competition? We will just have to wait and see!

BBC filming at the Dandie Ringside

One lass we know will be attending is Torbrae Starry Eyed n' Dizzy [Amber] - bred and campaigned by Meriel France and now in partnership with new Dandie Dinmont owners Nigel Phillips and James Adamson [Kennel Peterwell]. Nigel and James have waited for years to own a Dandie. Athough they are very experienced and successful breeders in other breeds, even they had to wait for the right little bitch to come along. But they used their wait wisely by learning about our Breed and Amber has won over their hearts. We know they are going to be there because the BBC will be filming them during the show and as soon as we are told, we will let you know when it is to be broadcast. It's quite a week for Nigel and James, not only is it the first time they will be showing Amber whilst being filmed but they got married too! Congratulations and Good Luck!
