Terriers lost another friend on the 25th February 2009 - Wendy Richard who will always be 'Miss Brahms' in the 'Are You Being Served' 1970s sitcom to me! But I did hear that she did rather well in a soap called 'East Enders'. But did you know that Wendy was very involved in dogs? She bought a Cairn Terrier from the people who owned the building in which 'Are You Being Served' was filmed and wished she had bought two! Asked if she looked like her dog, little Shirley, she said: "Yes, we're
both good looking blondes with expressive eyes, good legs and sparkling
personalities!"
As well as a Patron of the Cairn Terrier Relief Fund, Shirley was very involved in Dogs for the Disabled and the Dogs Trust and regularly used her 'celebrity' status to support them at Discover Dogs. Aha but here she is with the Dandies at the November 2003 Discover Dogs in Earls Court - you can see she is perfectly at home with Terriers.

The Caledonian Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club would like to pay tribute to Mrs Sheila Eardley who died 20th February 2009. A member of our Club, Mrs Eardley first met a Dandie back in the 1970s, finally obtaining her first Dandie from Billy & Jackie Shore [Kennel Swanwillow], the well known Swanwillow Mannering, in 1986. A Championship Judge in both Dandies and Australian Terriers, Sheila was involved in several breeds over the years, in particular Australian Terriers. A pinnacle of Kennel Sherex' achievement was when Paul took the Australian Terrier Ch Silhill Red Rock at Sherex to fifth top dog of all breeds in 2007 - an immense achievement.
We send our condolences to Paul, Sybra and Julian, Sheila's children.
