BP INZIEVAR SILVER BELLE NAF (MRS F M CHAPMAN-KING)

Junior

1 Jacka-Slater’s Pennywave Long Ranger,

mustard dog who was the easy winner here especially with the other two not showing themselves to advantage. This boy presented a lovely outline, long & low with an excellent topline, well sprung ribs, nice deep chest, attractive head of correct proportions, dark expression eyes, good mouth, coat of excellent texture, really moved out well when viewed in profile. Could be more positive in front. Very well shown. RBD;

2 Chapman-King’s Inzievar Silver Belle,

delightful pepper bitch puppy at her very first show, such a baby & not quite sure of her surroundings but full of promise. Feminine head with excellent eye for shape & colour, strong neck of correct length, ribs developing nicely, correct topline, soundly constructed throughout. RBB, BP;

3 Drake’s Deegandan Bessie Surtees.

Post Graduate

1 P Lone Ranger;

2 Sleight’s Cassencarrie Madelaine at Bonnybeck,

mustard bitch who presented a nice balanced outline with excellent neck, typical topline, very good tail for both set & carriage, feminine expression, correct dentition, moving out well enough when viewed from the side. Not the head or movement overall of 1.

Open

1 Russell’s Ch/Aust Ch Jollygaze Hopeless Romantic for Hawkesmill,

beautiful pepper bitch that just demanded the class, loved her head which was ultra feminine with dark expressive eyes & correct earset, so very well balanced, strong muscular neck, excellent long body with typical topline, good tail for both set & carriage, as sound as they come, using herself at all times, a sheer pleasure to watch on the move. BOB, later heard she took a much deserved G3;

2 King’s Ch Vistca Vian of Hendell,

very nice exhibit of different type to 1, well balanced boy of nice size, masculine head of correct proportions but with no suggestion of coarseness, quality coat in first class order. Felt his topline was a tad exaggerated, but of good length with excellent ribbing. Moves out well when viewed in profile. BD;

3 Kinsey-Morgan’s Inzievar Gold Effect.

1 Johnson's Avonview Beinn Heasgarnich,

Puppy Bitch (2)

1 Chapman-King's Inzievar Sparkling Silver,
p/s of just 6 months, full of joy in the ring just as she should be, of super type, very good body for her age, large well proportioned head, large expressive eyes, true front, deep in body, still carrying her puppy coat, well set & carried tail, very composed on the move display good movement front & back. RBB & BP;

2 Drake's  Deegandan Bessie Surtees,
another nice girl, not as sure of herself as 1. Good head, front OK, carried a good firm body, good bone, good coat texture. Could put a touch more in on the move but she is still young & inexperienced.

Post Graduate Bitch (1)

1 Bell's  Kirkhalin Mystic Prudence, p/s bitch, touch short of coat but what she had was of a good texture, good outline & tailset, balanced head, well set ears, carried enough body. A touch unsettled coming towards, OK going away.

Open Bitch (6)

1  Russel's Ch/Aus Ch Jollygaze Hopeless Romantic for Hawkesmill,
quality p/s girl of good type, well balanced all through, lovely head & eye, true well developed front, good bone & feet, carried a firm body, good coat of the correct texture, good outline standing & on the move. She was positive on the move both ways & gave a super picture in profile. BOB;

2 Morris'  Pennywave Amaryllis,
another quality girl who was in super coat & condition, front OK, good tailset, adequate bone for size. Unsettled coming towards, OK going away, just lacked a little sparkle;

Puppy Dog

1 Skitt Marshall’s Deegandan Dughall,
 nice type of mustard puppy, very sound, nice size, good moving both ways, excellent head & expression, excellent mouth. Not in his best coat, but that will come;

2 Jacka-Slater’s Pennywave Lone Ranger,
mustard, close to 1. Not as well bodied as 1, but at 11 months can still mature. In excellent coat, sound both ways, head is balanced. Would like a little more strength in muzzle;

3 Hendrick’s Etsill Quoy Dandy.

Junior Dog

1 Henry’s Dariant Genri Mi Rey at Trinzy,
very outgoing 9 months dog, OK for size, good in head & expression, straight in front, good bone & feet, sound moving, coat of good texture. Topline a little exaggerated here.

Post Graduate Bitch

1 Johnson’s Avonview Beinn Heasgarnich,
pepper dog in great coat & condition, nice to go over on the table, good length of body, good hindquarters, nice in head. Would like a shorter muzzle.

Limit Bitch

1 Shore’s Swanwillow Clarion Call,
mustard dog with the most cuddly head & expression, strong square muzzle, excellent front, good bone & feet, so very sound, in excellent coat & body condition. CC;

2 Hughes’ Maganbar Magic Moment,
not the best behaved young man in the class. Happy as they come & very full of himself, sound on the move, clean in neck & shoulder where he scored over 3;

3 Sleight’s Cassencarrie Bobby Vee at Bonnybeck.

Open Dog

1 Morris’ Cassencarrie Rumour Has It at Pennywave,
mustard dog of good length. Gets his tail a little high, but he is sound on the move. Lovely head & nice expression, good reach of neck, good topline, coat of good texture. RCC;

2 Hunter’s Ch Etsill Scapa Flow,
pepper dog who I have often admired, such a nice dog to go over. Not the layback of shoulder of 1 & didn’t have the flow of neck of 1 stacked. In super coat, showed so well. A worthy ch;

3 France’s Torbrae Dance N’ Dazzle.

Puppy Bitch

Only two but so difficult, where one scored the other failed.

1 Henry’s Deegandan Grace Darling,
very raw but very full of herself. Not in full coat as yet. Sound & free moving, scored in head type over 2, but 2 scored in topline;

2 Miller’s Puddockswell Moon Whisper at Dryfevalley,
  pepper & a really nice type. Would persist in standing poorly in front & no9t quite so good in shoudlesr. In better coat than 1, well handled. Very close up.

Junior Bitch

1 Henry’s Dariant Grace Mi Solar at Trinzy,
mustard bitch who I was quite taken with, long weasely body, excellent coat texture, sound both ways, super head & expression, large ye, well placed eye, very showy. Should have a good future. BP;

2 Miller’s Puddockswell Truly Scrumptious at Dryfevalley,
slightly different in type to 1, mustard without the length of 1 but a well shaped body. In super coat condition. Not quite as sound as 1, but in profile moved out really well;

3 Rushton’s Newtoon Silver Gem.

Post Graduate Bitch

1 Skitt Marshall’s Duneideann Limited Edition,
mustard bitch of a very nice type, good length, good neck & shoulders, excellent in head, well shaped eye giving a lovely expression, moved well both ways;

2 Sleight’s Cassencarrie Madelaina at Bonnybeck,
also mustard but slightly heavier in type to 1. Not as good in coat as 1, but was of a super texture. Very nice in head, strong muzzle. Just a little too heavy in front & so spoiled her front movement.

Limit Bitch

1 Heywood’s Cloverwood Day By Day at Schalulleke,
what a nice pepper bitch this is, a new one to me & quite where she has been hiding I don’t know! Lovely type, super head, good outline, sound free moving, presented superbly. In the challenge she didn’t move with the same enthusiasm & so won RCC, but it was so close;

2 Marshall’s Dun Eideann First Edition,
pepper without the length of 1, but still in balance & good in topline & tailset. Not quite as sound in front as 1, but that was only nit picking. A nice bitch;

3 Shore’s Swanwillow She’s Hot.

Open Bitch

1 Russell’s Ch/Aust Ch Jollygaze Hopeless Romantic for Hawkesmill,
  pepper of a really nice type, long shapely body, very good in front, good reach of neck, excellent topline, in super coat, so well presented, sound both ways. A quality bitch. CC & BOB;

2 Morris’ Pennywave Amaryllis,
  mustard bitch who is different in balance to 1, so nice to go over, good neck & shoulders. Not quite as good in front as 1. Good topline, tail carried well, well bodied, good length of rib, excellent hindquarters;

3 Rolland’s Clossongrey Marshwiggle.

M ARMSTRONG

City of Birmingham
Brian Kerrush
Unfortunately, I derived little pleasure from this exercise, as the entry offered little quality in depth. I was presented with four bad mouths, many level toplines, poorly-constructed forehands resulting in wide front movement and the ever-present problem of close movement behind. When will breeders get down to sorting this out?

Puppy Dog

1, Skitt & Marshall's Deegandan Dughall; very promising mustard baby enjoying his day. Best of heads, with good expression and deep, melting eyes, good length of neck on good shoulders. Correct topline and tail placement. Presented well, in good coat and moving without fault both ways. BP, DCC & BoB.

2, Hendrick's Etsill Quoy Dandy, another promising mustard with much to like. Unlucky to meet the winner today, sharing many of his good features but not moving as well behind and lacking a little animation;

3, Jacka-Slater's Pennywave Lone Ranger.

Junior Dog

1, Deacon & Pearce's Cassencarrie I Kid You Not, smart-looking mustard, very workmanlike. Good head with powerful underjaw. Nice length and in the best of coats, but not moving particularly well in front;

2, Bird's Birbrinda Scottish Water, another smart mustard with good head. Well-presented in good coat, just failing to the winner on hind action.

Limit Dog

1, Shore's Swanwillow Clarion Call, up to size mustard. Good head, melting expression, good length of neck leading to good shoulders. Nice length and topline, moved well both ways. Just lacking coat;

2, Hughes' Maganbar Magic Moment, smaller than the winner but with good head and expression. Shorter than the winner and moving poorly behind;

3, Sleight's Cassencarry Bobby Vee at Bonnybeck.

Open Dog

1, Eriksson's Int Ch Scottsbairn Hugh of Ross, very masculine pepper and very much the type I like. Great head and expression, good length of neck leading to perfect shoulders and classic topline. Moved well both ways. A little too dark for some and perhaps a little high in leg, Res CC;

2, Hunter's Etsill Scapa Flow, smaller type than the winner, but very pleasing to look at. Smaller head with good expression, good conformation and topline, nice length of neck on good shoulders. Moved well in front but not behind;

3, Morris' Cassencarrie Rumour Has It At Pennywave.

Good Citizen Dog

1, Cassencarrie Bobby Vee at Bonnybeck.

Veteran Bitch

1, Morris' Hendell Tassel at Pennywave, good coated mustard with good head and expression. Moved well both ways and was enjoying her day out.

Junior Bitch

1, Pierce & Baker's Birbrinda Calendar Girl, well-presented happy mustard with good head & expression, fair length but needs to impress on the move.

Post Graduate Bitch

1, Hamilton's Marganbar Mist Over Margham, lacking leg hair and furnishings this very feminine mustard moved and showed well. Good expression and pleasing topline;

2, Shore's Swanwillow She's Hot, mustard bitch with very nice head and expression but in need of a new jacket. I found her rather heavy in front and not moving as well as the winner;

3, Sleight's Cassencarrie Madelaina at Bonnybeck.

Limit Kerrush

1, Heywood's Cloverwood Day By Day at Schalluleke, Beautiful feminine pepper bitch. Good head and expression, best of forehands, good toplione, moved both ways with drive and extension. Enjoyed her outing - BCC;

2, Marshall's Dun Eideann First Edition, similar to the winner, but much more chunky and not moving as freely. Owner must pay more attention to her tendency to crouch;

3, Bird's Etsill Shapinsay Sound with Birbrinda.

Open Bitch

1, Ray's Dentgate Sweet Symphony, solid and sound feminine mustard. Good head and expression, melting eyes, good forehand, moved well both ways. Lacked a littler sparkle today and would benefit from having some coat taken out. Res CC;

2, Kinsey-Morgan's Inzievar Gold Effect, good coated and feminine mustard bitch. Good head and expression, good conformation and super topline. Just failed to winner in hind movement;

3, Eriksson's Swe Ch Scottsbairn Royal Sybilla.

Good Citizen Bitch

1, Jarvis' Mosterlada Shooting Star, very pretty mustard with good head and expression. Moved well but could do with a bit more sparkle.

Bournemouth
TERRIER GROUP JUDGE BOURNEMOUTH 12
Many thanks to the secretary & committee of Bournemouth for their hospitality. I thought the new showground & a great success & a wonderful investment. I wish Denise Courtney & her team a happy future in their new venue.
I shortlisted, apart from the placed dogs, the Bedlington, Manchester, Parson Russell, Stafford & SCWT, who pressed the top four for a place.
G1 was Dandyhow Dr Walter, Border Terrier, in top form & great coat & pelt, beautifully balanced & full of type, gave a foot perfect performance to take the group.
G2 was Ch Cloverwood Royal George, Dandie, lovely mustard dog, won BD under me at the breed club show earlier this year. Went very well with correct body shape & topline.
G3 was Ch Ragus Merry Gentleman, Norwich, very sound moving dog of excellent type. Not quite in his best coat here which lessened the challenge.
G4 was Ch Karamynd Play It Again, WHWT, lovely dog I liked immensely, in great form & wonderful coat texture. I have seen him more settled on the move.

DANDIE DINMONT CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW

JUDGE Paul Eardley

The Dandie Dinmont Club heald a championship show where BIS was Cloverwood Sparkling Blue & Best Puppy Pennywave Lone Ranger.

It was a privalege to be invited to judge this breed club championship show for one of my favourite breeds & in these austere times I was pleased with the size of the entry. Overall I felt that the quality was a little mixed but there- were enough lovely Dandies on show to make for some interesting competition.  Generally presentation was good and mouths and temperaments were excellent. Movement was more of a challenge and as always  with a larger entry of Dandies there were outlines on display at either end of the spectrum. Open dog was a good class & Limit & Open bitch were excellent classes & presented me with the most challenging judging of the day. They were both classes that I have re-run in my head several times afterwards as the decisions were reallly close.

Judge: Mrs J Shore

This was a small but representative entry, my over-riding impression was of Dandies of correct
size, typical heads in good coat, although some lacked undercoat. My main worry was short
necks, the standard doesn't call for a long neck but neither do we want them to be short and
stuffy, heavy fronts and some moving wide in front. There were also some very light eyes which
totally spoils that lovely soft melting expression that is so appealing.
