Dandie Dinmont Terriers in the UK

Mike Macbeth, Chairman of the Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club of Canada and owner of the Glahms Dandie Dinmont Terrier Kennel, flew to Scotland specially for the Caledonian Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club Championship Show in Kelso. Although Mike is an 'All Breed' International Championship Show Judge, this was the first time she has judged in the UK and she was delighted with the impressive entry of Dandies for her to go over in the ring.

Mike's trip wasn't totally uneventful but her luggage was cared for by dear George at the Ednam Arms Hotel and despite thick fog delaying her connecting flight from Edinburgh on Monday giving her only a few minutes to change terminals in London Heathrow for her flight to Canada, she now is back home deep in preparations for her own Canadian Dandie event. Glen Tinsley (Kennel Cloverwood), who accompanied Mike, was less fortunate - her flight to Exeter in the UK was cancelled which meant a nine hour train journey home. This was almost a disaster as Glen was immediately travelling to Poland for the World Dog Show so had very little time to prepare. She is there, with Meriel France (Kennel Torbrae), as this is being written and we will bring you their results when we can. 

Mike found her Best in Show and Dog CC in Ch Inzievar Silver Gilt bred and handled by Frances Chapman-King, owned by her Mother Mrs I Jamieson and Mr G Buist. It became a family affair when Inzievar Silver Bonnet bred by Frances handled in the picture by her sister Mrs Hislop and owned by her nephew Thomas Cameron, received the Best Opposite Sex and the Bitch CC.

Dog Reserve CC was given to Keith and Margaret Derry's Ch Vistca van der Valk and Best Puppy came from Minor Puppy Dog - Shonillian Dandilly Digby owned by Mr & Mrs Maurice. Bitch Reserve CC was again bred by Frances - Inzievar Gold Ring - owned by Mr & Mrs Kerrush.

Best Veteran was Mr & Mrs Coleman's Follycott Frank Lee

It's always lovely to see the puppies!

It was a good show - no doubt about that - but it was made more special because it was all about Dandies. Anyone who thinks dog shows are just about pampered pets should have been there. ...and with all the hard work of the CDDTC Committee before and during the Show, it will be remembered for a long time not least by all the visitors who had the chance to talk about, meet and cuddle a Dandie Dinmont Terrier.

The final show photograph for now says it all - our Honorary Secretary, Keith Derry - we think he looks quite pleased!
