Canadian Dandie Dinmont Breeder Organises Charity Dog Event PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 06 March 2007

The Caledonian Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club was lucky enough to have Mike Macbeth - Kennel Glahms - as their Championship Show Judge last November which turned out to be a fantastic event. Now Mike is using her considerable skills as one of the organisers of a very special Canadian Kennel Club Charity Event alongside the Purina National at the Tillsonburg Special Event Center on March 10th and 11th 2007.

This event was conceived in December 2005 as a result of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina when hundreds of dogs were abandoned, injured and in need of rescue. The original plan has evolved and now the event proceeds will benefit more local needs such as the animals left behind and in need after the Manitoba floods and research into canine disease.

We know you have met a Dandie but have you met a Black Russian Terrier or a Barbet?

700 dogs of 167 breeds will attend this glamorous show and the generosity of sponsors have made it possible for this glittering event to appeal to a wide audience with a Breeders' Village which will, of course, include a 'cuddle couch' where Dandie Dinmonts will be persuading visitors how wonderful they are. There will be a series of demonstrations throughout the show including dog tricks, service dogs and obedience as well as two licenced Obedience Trials. There is over $27,000 show prize money and even the raffle prizes are worth $5,000.

glamorous and glittering but not just the dogs!

Why glamorous and glittering? Red carpets for the show rings and lots of flowers of course but the icing will be all the group winning show dogs being handled by their humans dressed in tuxedos or gowns! Knowing Mike as we do we would put money on her producing Scottish bagpipes too at some point!

The emphasis of this event is to introduce purebred dogs to a wider audience and to show not just their beauty but their talent as well. Canadian Kennel Club officials will be acting as 'roving ambassadors' amongst the visitors making this a very welcoming and friendly event.

You don't have to be there to contribute! See the details here

As we ready ourselves in the UK for our own event, Crufts Dog Show , we wish our Canadian colleagues every success and if Mike and the Glahms Dandies have anything to do with it, it will be a stunning success.
