Earlier we introduced you to Yvette Andrewartha's Dandie Dinmont Terriers [opens in new window]. Now we have more congratulations for Yvette's "Bonnie" who has successfully completed her Intermediate Obedience and Control Trial. On the face of it this might not seem too dramatic to you, but just see what she had to do to pass!

  • 1 minute 30 seconds stay amongst hens! - Owner out of sight
  • 1 minute 'stand stay'
  • 3 minutes stay with Owner out of sight
  • run with Owner then wait on command
  • heelwork in a room of other people and dogs off the lead
  • recall with two changes of direction
  • recall with a halt
  • 2 minutes 'sit stay'
  • a retrieve
  • recall through other dogs and people playing
  • 'down stay' with Owner away whilst other dogs and people work around the dog
  • down on command from 30 foot distance

Dandies have one aim - to please their Human!

From a Webmaster who is currently working hard with a young Dandie Dinmont Terrier bitch on the command 'Come Here', we salute you - both of you!

... and to those people who look at an adorable Dandie and wonder about its capabilities - take note! The Dandie Dinmont was designed as a working breed but times have changed and they have had to adapt to our human requirements. This just proves how versatile a Dandie can be and how they have adapted to modern living without losing this ability. They are clever little terriers with one aim -  to please their Human whatever the requirement.
